It's happened again! More injuries to add to the list of Christensen boy accidentals. Zachary will have a nice scar to show for this one. It's actually shaped like a "C" in which he keeps raving about how "cool" it is. He is definately a BOY.
Monday night, Zach and mom were on their way back from a park. Mom was walking as Zach rode her bike (Not the best idea). As we were hustling back to stay ahead of the windy, dust storm following us, Zach rode ahead and proceeded to change gears on the bike. He changed the tension from 6 to 1 which he then slipped his foot off the pedal and came down and tore the skin clean away on the sharp chain wheel. Not seeing that he had injured himself, I walked towards him and not till I was closer did I see the terror on his face. I thought, "Oh gosh, did we stub a toe or what since there wasn't a clear accident that occurred". As I got closer and saw the wound, I asked for some assistance from a couple walking by and we carried him to the corner. At that point, Zach was not crying, but concerned about just putting him down and getting in the car to get to the ER. He said he didn't feel a thing, which by the sight of it, was a good thing.
We arrived at the ER at St. Lukes Meridian which was pretty quiet, so we were able to get right in. Zach at that point was more concerned about the shot and getting numb. He was a trooper through the whole thing and tensed up a bit for the injections, but once he was numb, he just talked the doctors ear off. He was just hysterically and had the nurse and the doctor just rolling! Well, this put a damper on the next day river raft trip with mom down the Boise river, but we were able to relax and enjoy the day together and Zach is very proud about his new war wound and the scar that it will leave behind.
